RTX 5090 specs that matter for rental
The RTX 5090 is the budget king of AI rental: from just $0.58/hr — roughly one-quarter the price of a data-center card. For small models (7-13B), prototyping, embeddings and light fine-tuning, it is the price-performance sweet spot and the cheapest gateway into GPU rental in 2026.
The catch is 32GB VRAM: it comfortably fits 8B-13B models (even with room for long context and LoRA), but not 70B+ models — those need 80GB+ data-center cards. Also note: no spot market currently exists for the 5090 (all 3 providers list on-demand only), and supply is limited to Spheron, Vast.ai and RunPod.

Example: 1,000 hours of 8B-model serving or prototyping on the RTX 5090 = ~$580 on-demand at the cheapest rate — vs ~$1,670 on an A100 or ~$2,500 on an H100 for jobs that don't need the extra VRAM or throughput.
RTX 5090 vs alternatives: rent by what fits
Usually the choice is VRAM, not brand. Cheapest live on-demand rate per GPU.
| GPU | Arch | VRAM | Cheapest $/hr | Cheapest ₹/hr |
|---|
RTX 5090 vs H100
The H100 (80GB, $2.50/hr) is ~4× the price with ~8× the FP16 throughput and 2.5× the VRAM. For a 7-13B model, the 5090 is dramatically cheaper per token and runs it fine; for 70B+ or high-concurrency serving, you need the H100. Don't rent an H100 for a model that fits a 5090.
RTX 5090 vs A100
Both are value picks, but different tiers: the A100 (80GB, $1.67/hr, 312 TFLOPS) is 3× the 5090's price and throughput. If your model fits 32GB, the 5090 wins; if it needs 40-80GB, the A100 is the cheapest 80GB option.
RTX 5090 vs B200
A B200 (192GB, $4.50/hr) is a ~7.7× premium for flagship capacity. The 5090 is the exact opposite use case — small models at the lowest possible cost. Choose by model size: ≤30GB → 5090; 40-80GB → A100/H100; ≤141GB → H200; 150-400B → B200.
RTX 5090 rental vs buying
A retail RTX 5090 costs roughly $2,000-2,500 (≈₹1.8-2.3 lakh in India) and is scarce at launch. Renting from $0.58/hr (~$423/month at 730h) sidesteps the purchase premium, stock issues and depreciation — ideal if you only need occasional capacity or want to try before committing hardware.
The rule of thumb: for sustained 24/7 small-model serving, buying may pay back over ~4-6 months; for burst, prototyping or experiments, renting is far cheaper and instant. See full ₹-based TCO in GPU rental vs buy in India and the 5090 purchase guide in RTX 5090 India price guide.
Cheapest RTX 5090 rental (right now, live): $0.58/hr on-demand at Spheron; $0.76/hr at Vast.ai; $1.10/hr at RunPod. Only 3 providers, no spot yet. Rates move weekly — this page is the live source.
RTX 5090 Rental — FAQ
Honest answers for teams renting NVIDIA RTX 5090 compute.
How much does it cost to rent an NVIDIA RTX 5090?▾
Live on this page: RTX 5090 on-demand from $0.58/hr (≈₹48/hr) at Spheron, $0.76/hr at Vast.ai, $1.10/hr at RunPod. There is currently no spot market for the 5090. A day is ~$14; a 730-hour month ~$423.
What can I run on a rented RTX 5090 (32GB)?▾
Small LLMs (7B-13B parameter class) for serving and fine-tuning, embeddings, RAG pipelines, and prototyping — at the lowest cost per token of any card. 32GB is the cap; models over ~30GB need an A100/H100 (80GB) or higher.
Why is there no RTX 5090 spot market?▾
The 5090 is consumer-class and priced so low on-demand that providers have little interruptible surplus to sell as spot. As supply grows, spot may appear — but for now it's on-demand only (Spheron, Vast.ai, RunPod).
Is renting an RTX 5090 better than a data-center card?▾
For small models, almost always yes — it's ~1/4 the price per hour (from $0.58/hr) and runs 7-13B models with excellent cost-per-token. Choose a data-center card (A100/H100/H200/B200) only when your model needs more than 32GB or very high concurrency.
Which provider rents the RTX 5090 cheapest?▾
Spheron leads on-demand at $0.58/hr; Vast.ai at $0.76/hr; RunPod at $1.10/hr. Only these 3 list the 5090 on the feed today.
